SXSW Music Day 1
So far Day 1 of the music portion of SXSW 2011 was a success. Started the night off at the British Music Showcase at Latitude 30. The band that played was Wolfgang, they were fun a kind of dance rock with a british twist. Next on the list was 512 Bar, and let me tell under normal circumstance I would never set foot in this place. I prefer my bars dark and falling apart, but none-the-less the two bands we caught there, Mazes and Getty lane, were pretty good. Mazes is this kind of lo-fi, low key rock, and Getty lane is a drone-y shoegaze-esque two piece. Finished the night out at palm door/Beauty bar where we met the guy in headliner photo. He had stickers and underwear on, smelled of menthol, piss and pabst. Which leads me to my last note on night one SXSW Music. Pace yourselves people, we still have three days, and the locals don’t take to being accosted by a foul smelling drunk wearing nothing but stickers.

Art Disaster 12 and Peelander Z @ Beauty Bar
Mmmm crazy Japanese bands, and their devoted crazy fans. Between Dj orion and the insanity that is Peelander Z, Beauty bar had one hell of a SXSW 2011 kick-off Party. Okay, now that things are updated it’s time for a nap, stay tuned for more SXSW updates.

Hot Britches Birthday Bash at The Beauty Bar
It’s officially summer in Austin Texas, that time of year when the city empties out and all of us who work in the service industry start squirreling away PBR’s and Jorts in weird places like throw-back hippies guarding their LSD stash. If you’re new to Austin then you don’t know about any of this yet. The night life around here pretty much stops and aimlessness ensues leading everyone down a winding unlit of path ass-grabbery filled with late night house parties, impromptu skinny dipping, and trips to 1000 Guadalupe Street. Luckily though Hot Britches and the The Beauty Bar have plans to keep the summer true with organized weekly shows and a few large themed parties, and of course Infamous Austin will be there to cover it. Beauty Bar 4 year Anniversary / Cinco de Mayo Party!
4 years later and still going strong, last nights party was Awesome with a capital “A”. The house was packed, the tequila was flowed, and the money-makers shook. It was one hell of a night, and did I mention it was also Cinco de Mayo? Yeah that parts kind of minor, but oh so important for next year. Car Stereo Wars @ Beauty Bar!
Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds. And by appointed rounds I mean drinking and dancing until Beauty Bar closes the doors and kicks you out. Last night Car Stereo Wars and Dj Hot Britches lit the place the on fire. Oh did I mention that it was the CSW album release party, and they were giving out free copies? Yeah, you missed that, too bad. SXSW Day 2 – Beauty Bar / Palm Door
Lonestar, boots, and an awesome performance by Shout out out out’s; what do these things have in common? SXSW and beauty bar, that’s what! Last night was insane, between Deer Tick, Frankie Chan and Toxic avenger I just about died in the massive crowds. Beauty Bar and Palm door have really stepped up the game this year in terms of showcasing awesome SXSW acts, and tonight is going to be even more crowded. Rye Rye, Giver, and Golden Triangle will be on hand to blow the roof off the joing. Get there early or get stuck waiting in a line that doesn’t move.

SXSW Day 1 – Beauty Bar / Palm Door
Whoooooooooooooo! Saint Patrick’s day! Oh wait, it’s also the start of SXSW and Christ can you kids party. The night started off with Music Hall of fame Rock-a-billy Singer Wanda Jackson @ the Palm Door. I know what you’re thinking and yes I had no idea who she was either, but then my friend google filled me in and now I know, and knowing is half the battle. What I’d really like to know is who took my left sock while I was passed out at Beauty Bar last night, but that’s a whole other mystery to solve. Munch Munch and Diamond Rings closed last night out and Frankie Chan, Toxic Avenger, Shout out out out and The Very Best will be on hand tonight to bump the house. So if you have a wrist band, a badge or some cold hard cash be there, or don’t your loss.

Car Stereo Wars and Swiss @ The Beauty Bar
Wow, to be a stick of gum at Beauty Bar on Valentine’s eve. Hot girls, strong drinks, crazy bands and Car Stereo Wars, what more could anyone want? Oh, right cab fare, a half pie of pizza and some tylenol for the hangover. Well all is well that ends well, if you weren’t there to get down with us for the pre Vday celebration you can’t miss out on next weekend’s raucous bash. Thanks to infamous austin for the photos, Swift for playing an awesome show, and we’re always glad to have Car Stereo Wars in the house. Peace.

Car Stereo Wars @ The Beauty Bar
C-A-R-S-T-E-R-O-W-A-R-S-! Three little words that roughly equate to “Get drunk and Party”! So obviously CSW was back in town and they played at Beauty Bar, if you’re asking yourself why you weren’t there or who they are it’s probably best you go to another blog right now; this place isn’t for you. If you were there, and still don’t know who they are you should probably quit buying double shots of Sailor Jerry and switch to Margarita’s and Wine coolers. I kid of course, Beauty Bar serves neither. So schools back in session in a week which means you’ve exactly 168 hours to finish punishing your liver and blowing all of grandmas cheek pinching money. See you next Friday with Prince Klassen, and Saturday with Bright Light Social Hour.

New Years Eve 2010!
Wooooooo-hooooooooo! News year’s 2010! Judging by day long headache, it was a good night, and judging by the photos there are going to be a lot broken new years resolutions already. New Years at The Beauty Bar Austin went off without a hitch, DJ Mel worked the dance floor all night long, The Sterlings made their Austin debut, and Noise Revival Orchestra closed out the night to a full house. Photobooth photos were as scandalous as ever, and the line was down the block to get i. If you missed out on the festivities maybe next time you’ll heed our friendly advice and get their early next time.

New Years Eve @ The Beauty Bar!
Tonight at the Beauty Bar is the first night of the Infamous Austin Photobooth. Dj Mel as well as the Sterlings, and The noise Revival Orchestra will be on hand to ring in the new year. Come early to catch the sterlings and start drinking, because it’s going to get full early, and it’s going to be another hell of a night. Come start off the new year with an infamous photo.
The New Drugs @ Beauty Bar
Just another Thursday night at the Beauty Bar. Hot girls in tight dresses, more Pabst™ spilled on the ground outside than you can shake a stick at, and a killer dj inside. I don’t really remember too much, but at some point Rudolph and Black Santa showed up and all hell broke loose on the dance floor. That’s a photo of them pushing their way inside, if I’ve learned anything from Beauty Bar do not get in the way of anyone with a large red nose. The new drugs played an awesome show, I think, and Dj tweedy was on hand before mayhem broke out. Toyota must really be pushin’ for street cred lately, because they threw one hell of a party on Friday night at the Beauty bar. I haven’t had my ass grabbed nor had that many american apparel v-necks brushed against me since Misprints Cocktoberfest. Talk about a hell of a night, once again Beauty bar put on a hell of a show. We’ll Go Machete, Markov, and future of the Left rocked out the back tent. Inside Dj scorpio, Grrl Parts, and Dj Sno White killed it. The dance floor was alive, air was brisk and the drinks were hot. Last night was fun, and when I say fun I mean in the way that a guy in a peter pan hat and tights was bouncing on and off the stage with a strapped on cello. Wow, talk about a hell of a night. Car Stereo Wars was back in town and rockin’ the hell out of the Beauty Bar dance floor. Deadbeat Darlings, The White White Lights, and Spencer Gibb were on hand to rock the back lot. There was live screen printing by Twin Villian, market by GAT5 Textiles, and live visuals by kid nice productions. It was a super fun night, and if you weren’t there there are photos after the jump. Bike Prom @ Beauty Bar!
Wow, talk about a crazy night. Austin Bike Prom at Beauty Bar was awesome in a way that is unique to this city. Sub-commander Quito put on a photobooth, bike parts and accessories were raffled off, and Magnifico played the hell out of some Queen. As a side note I don’t think I’ve ever see that many Chrome™ bags in one place, they need their own store front here. ACL Day 3 Parties Beauty Bar!
DANCE, DANCE,DANCE! Last night, Franki Chan, Toxic Avenger, Mixhell, and DJ Orion killed the Beauty Bar in the best post ACL after party to date. The entire bar was packed ass to crotch from the back door to the front gate. We partied so hard we had to turn people away at the door; no one tell the fire marshall. ACL Parties Day 1 – Learning Secrets @ Beauty Bar!
Last night was the first night of the Austin City Limits festival After Party at Beauty Bar Austin. Inside everyone was busy Learning secrets and kickin’ it hyper. Outside was capped off by the infamous voxtrot who, as usual, took no prisoners and left no one standing. The kids of phoenix dropped in and brought some dope beats and a packed dance floor. That was day one of the after parties, get some sleep kids, tomorrow L.A.X., Motel Aviv, and The Laughing come in for the best line up this side of Red River. Prepare to tear the roof off and rip up the floor boards; hope you bring your dancing shoes. Be there, or miss out!
